| October 2004--SMI is commencing its 25th annual report project this month for the Hungarian-American Enterprise Fund (HAEF), a public/private venture fund established by the Support for East European Democracy (SEED) Act. Established in 1989 to promote private sector investment in Hungary, HAEF has been a client of SMI since 1994. SMI has been retained by four USAID sponsored public/private sector funds established to develop and promote capitalism in the transformation economies of Poland, Hungary and Russia. SMI managed 10 Annual report projects for the Polish-American Enterprise Fund, one for the Fund For Large Enterprise in Russia, one for the U.S. Russian Investment Fund, 11 for HAEF, and two for Elektrim, a $1 billion energy/telecom conglomerate headquarterd in Warsaw, Poland. "It has been a privilege to research and write so many annual reports for Eastern European institutions. It has given us a unique perspective on the emergence of capitalism and the free market in the transformation economies," says Chris Gadomski, principal of Strategic Marketing Inc. "It has been very rewarding to be part of the corporate outreach during such exciting times in Eastern Europe." |
